Explore your Perspective: Wales
For this camp, we had the unique opportunity to stay at Foel Ortho, an 18th-century farmhouse near Lake Vyrnwy in Wales. We were treated to quirky accommodations where we slept in a beautiful old barn, a captivating treehouse, a cozy warm cottage, and even in secret rooms behind bookcases. You must go visit if you happen to be nearby.
We had a fantastically diverse set of igniters that included What3words, Seymourpowell, Rachel Simpson Fashion, and Halliday Hydropower. The discussions and knowledge sharing that the group engaged in was the perfect balance between technology, process, and empathy. Between the lectures and workshops, we enjoyed so much amazing music from bands like The London Essentials, Pollen, and the founder of Powell Guitars, Ken Powell.
The title of the week, Explore your Perspective, was born from the idea that whether from the bottom of the valley or the top of the mountain your view of obstacles will change, but they will always be filtered through many layers of bias and life experiences. No matter where you are in life, you carry with you your past and unless you understand these biases, they will affect the way you experience the world. We helped the Shifters surface these underlying biased perceptions through physical prototyping and through designed experiences we explored altered senses and how it changes your contextual understanding of reality.
We all had unique and interesting stories about what we saw, smelled, heard, and felt during this camp. Perception is everything.
